“Horndean Band is a military style wind band and corps of drums originating from the small town of Horndean, six miles north of Portsmouth.”

The Band

The band currently consists of 40 members ranging from 14 to late 70s. People join not only as a hobby but also to socialise and improve their playing ability.  Some of the instruments currently played in the band are:

  • Flute/Piccolo
  • Oboe
  • Clarinet
  • Bass Clarinet
  • Saxophone (Alto, Tenor & Bari)
  • Bassoon
  • French Horn
  • Trumpet/Cornet
  • Trombone
  • Euphonium
  • Tuba
  • Percussion
  • Corps of Drums

Some of our members have been part of the band for 40 years whilst others are just starting out on their musical journey. Many have even grown up with the band and now they play alongside their children. We pride ourselves on having a very friendly atmosphere and the ability to get results through hard work and most importantly, fun!

The Corps of Drums

We currently have 4 members of the Corps of Drums who always lead the band during marching events.  Andy Daish, is the Director of Drums. He teaches them the rudiments of drummimg  and rehearses them whilst the main band practice.  The Corps of Drums welcome all abilities and they currently have musicians who have just started out as well as those who have been playing for some time.
